In response, South Africa began well with a 50-run opening stand. Laura Wolvaardt (101) kept them in contention, supported by Annerie Dercksen (37). However, once Deepti Sharma removed both set batters, India regained full control.
Deepti became the first Indian woman to take a five-wicket haul in a World Cup final, sealing a 52-run win as South Africa were bowled out for 246 runs.
